Before RHL Lighting was a brand, it was a question we kept hearing on the factory floor — will it fit?
Hello. I’m Ou Jun, founder of RHL Lighting. I came into this trade in 2013, inside a lighting factory here in Zhong Shan — learning how a chandelier is actually made: how many hands touch a single crystal arm, where the weight sits, why a brass finish looks different in year five than it did in week one.
NINE YEARS ON THE FACTORY FLOOR
I also learned what gets lost. A design would arrive beautifully drawn, then get flattened. An arm removed to save cost. A solid casting swapped for a hollow one. One size offered where three were needed. The fixture still sold. It just wasn’t the thing it was meant to be.
Nine years — 2013 to 2022 — taught me the trade. How a fixture is actually assembled. How each material behaves once it leaves the bench: glass, brass, crystal, alabaster. So in 2022, I started RHL Lighting, on a simple premise: build the fixture properly, and build it to the room it’s going into.
BUILT TO THE ROOM, NOT THE CATALOG
A 20″ chandelier and a 44″ chandelier are not the same object scaled up — the proportions have to be redrawn, the arms rebalanced, the crystal re-cut. Most catalogs give you one size and hope.
We offer our designs across multiple sizes, and when none of them is right, we make the one that is: your dimensions, your finish, your chain length.
FROM 1920s ART DECO TO MODERN LINEAR
Our work runs from 1920s Art Deco — iron and hand-cut K9 crystal in lacquered brass, matte black, or polished nickel — through alabaster, glass lanterns, and modern linear forms.
Some of it is quiet. Some of it is a two-story crystal chandelier suspended in a stairwell. All of it is assembled by people we know, in a factory we can walk through.
WE WORK BY INQUIRY, NOT CHECKOUT
A fixture at this scale is a decision, not a purchase. We would rather talk through your ceiling height, your table width, and your timeline before anything is made.
Today, 4 years on, RHL Lighting supplies designers, contractors, and hospitality projects across North America. Every piece carries a 2-year warranty and is inspected before it leaves — the same check I used to run myself.
We are in two places at once. In North America, RHL Lighting trades as Matinmorn inc, a corporation registered in the State of Colorado since 2022, with its registered office at 6547 N Academy Blvd #2266, Colorado Springs, CO 80918, and correspondence handled at 18351 Colima Road Ste 2896, Rowland Heights, CA 91748. Your quotation, your contract and your invoice come from that company, in US dollars. The glass, the brass and the assembly stay in the workshop in Zhong Shan.
